2021 Toyota RAV4 vs 2021 Nissan Rogue: unmatched versatility

The Toyota RAV4 is unbeatable in its segment. It includes significant mechanical advances under its hood, including two hybrid engines and a reliable and frugal combustion engine. In addition, the various versions and groups of equipment adapt to all lifestyles.

Here we compare it to the 2021 Nissan Rogue.

Better performance and efficiency

The Toyota RAV4 offers a trio of powertrains that meets all needs. First, the 2.5-liter four-cylinder develops 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Then comes the hybrid version which mutates an electric motor to a 2.5-liter engine to produce 219 horsepower.

All new for 2021, the plug-in hybrid engine of the Prime arrives with its 302 horsepower. This latest engine allows the RAV4 to travel up to 68 kilometers in 100% electric mode, which provides ample range for all of your daily obligations.

As for the Nissan Rogue, only one engine is offered. We're talking about a four-cylinder engine that develops 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. Not only is this powertrain less powerful than all the powertrains offered by the RAV4, but the Rogue does not offer a hybrid option.

The RAV4 offers an eight-speed automatic transmission on the gasoline engine exclusively, while CVTs are offered on hybrid models. In the Rogue camp, only one transmission is offered, a CVT.

More capabilities in the 2021 Toyota RAV4

The Nissan Rogue's fuel economy rating is 9.2 L/100 km in the city and 7.2 L/100 km on the highway with all-wheel drive. Not only is this rating higher than the base four-cylinder RAV4, it is also significantly higher than the fuel consumption ratings of the hybrids offered on Toyota's SUV, the lowest of which is 5.7 L/100 km and 6.3 L/100 km (city/highway).

Finally, all versions of the RAV4 have a towing capacity greater than the Rogue, up to the Trail variant, which can tow up to 3,500 pounds. The Rogue is limited to a capacity of 1,350 pounds.

The 2021 RAV4 is better equipped than the Nissan Rogue on the inside with more safety features and more technology, in addition to variants with more character, such as the Trail.
