The 2023 Toyota Highlander receives major upgrades

The 2023 Toyota Highlander announced earlier this week features a new turbocharged engine that will replace the outgoing V-6 with more performance and the same level of efficiency. This engine joins the current and very popular hybrid powertrain to offer consumers a lineup of efficient, powerful, and proven powertrains.

This new 2.4 L turbocharged four-cylinder delivers an impressive 265 hp along with 310 pound-feet of torque. This represents a 17% improvement in torque over the outgoing V-6 which means better accelerations and more confident performance. On the other hand, the efficiency is preserved with the turbocharged engine averaging 9.8 L per 100 km, the same fuel consumption rating that we find on the current V-6. Towing capacity is also preserved with an impressive 5,000 pounds of capacity with the turbo and 3,500 pounds with the hybrid. This hybrid returns with its impressive 6.7 litre per 100 kilometre towing capacity.

Last but not least, the 2023 Toyota Highlander features a remarkable new infotainment system which features advanced voice commands as well as improved navigation. You can use various voice commands to control the features in your Highlander and there is also a suite of new Toyota connected services. This new navigation system is housed in a new 12.3-inch centre screen in Limited and Platinum models and is paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with different display modes. An 8-inch centre screen is found in most other Highlander versions in 2023 and you also get hands-free power liftgate functionality across more trends.

The 2023 Highlander continues to offer room for 7 or 8 passengers, and you get 453 litres of total cargo space behind the rear seats with over 1,380 litres of space behind the second row.
