The redesigned 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro gets even better

At Toyota, TRD Pro is synonymous with off-road performance and if there's one model that represents the elevated capabilities of these versions, it's the Toyota Tacoma. Along with the 4Runner TRD Pro, the Tacoma TRD Pro is probably Toyota's most confident vehicle off the beaten path, and for 2022, it gets even better.

Taller and with a stronger suspension, the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will also be offered in a new color called Electric Lime to make it stand out even more. Let's take a look at the TRD Pro's major changes.

Raised suspension and increased performance

For 2022, the TRD Pro takes its performance up a notch... literally. Its suspension is raised by 28 mm at the front and 13 mm at the rear to increase its ability to handle more complex trails. Specifically, this suspension offers better angles for crossing obstacles:

- 36.4-degree approach angle

- 24.7 degree departure angle

- 26.6 degree breakover angle

FOX 2.5-inch internal bypass shocks are paired with the new suspension to improve both on- and off-road performance. Black TRD wheels wrapped in Goodyear Territory off-road tires complete the package.

Based on the 4x4 Double Cab short bed version, the new 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will be powered by the powerful and familiar standard 3.5-liter V6 engine. TRD's purpose-built cat-back exhaust system ensures an aggressive sound that will get noticed, while a six-speed manual transmission is still available for purists to enjoy. With an exclusive sound, the V6 delivers its 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque with conviction.

A camera system increases driver confidence in off-road situations. Images of what's in front, to the side and around the TRD Pro are displayed on the standard 8-inch center screen. In addition, a 4.2-inch digital display in the instrument panel shows the TRD Pro's tilt, as well as the outside temperature and fuel consumption, of course.

Finally, we should mention the new Electric Lime color, which joins three other colors, Super White, Magnetic Grey Metallic and Midnight Black Metallic.
