Three things to know about the 2022 Toyota Tundra

The all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra has been completely redesigned from the wheels up with improved power, more capability, more luxury features inside, improved performance, and one of the most advanced lineup of technologies found in a modern truck. There’s a lot to cover with the new Tundra, so we thought we’d break it down into various parts by looking at the three most important things to know about the 2022 Toyota Tundra.

It has a lot more power

The new 2022 Toyota Tundra is powered out of the gate by the most powerful engine in the segment. That fact alone is worth taking a second look at the Tundra, not that you would miss it the first time. The new 2022 Toyota Tundra features a base 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 powertrain that delivers 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, more power than a Ram HEMI and it’s the standard engine in the Tundra!

That said, it isn’t even the most powerful option. Toyota engineers have designed what they call the i-FORCE MAX system which is a motor generator located between the standard 10-speed gearbox and powertrain. This additional unit serves to increase hp and torque as needed, delivering up to 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque from the twin-turbo V6.

It is not surprising that the Tundra can tow up to 12,000 pounds and has a max payload of 1,940 pounds. The great thing about this powertrain is that it is not only more powerful than the current V8 found in the Tundra, but it is also more efficient.

It is more luxurious and capable

The 2022 Toyota Tundra gains a lot of luxury and comfort as well. It will be offered with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, both wireless, a new 8-inch standard screen or optional 14-inch centre touchscreen with new infotainment system, Toyota Connected Services, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and rear sunshade.

It also gets the range of advanced Toyota Safety Sense active safety technologies as well. These have been improved to offer pedestrian assistance at crosswalks and intersections as well as bicycle detection.

It comes in a lot of different versions

The 2022 Toyota Tundra features an impressive range of models including five trims (SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, and 1794), two body configurations (Double Cab and CrewMax) and three bed lengths (5.5 feet, 6.5 feet, and 8.1 feet). It is also available with a TRD Off-Road or TRD Sport package in different versions.
