Three things we are sure to see on the new Toyota Highlander Grand

Toyota announced earlier this month that we would be seeing a brand-new model next year. Called the Toyota Highlander Grand, it promises to deliver a range of impressive features and remarkable versatility just like the current 3-row Toyota Highlander. The major difference is that this new Toyota Highlander Grand will offer more space, or at the very least that is what we expect. Toyota did not provide many details on the Highlander Grand, but from the name alone we can make a few assumptions. Here are three things we expect to see on the newest version of the Toyota Highlander when it goes on sale next year.

A longer wheelbase translates into more interior space

The new Toyota Highlander Grand will likely offer more interior space and versatility than the current Highlander which already offers a lot of room. We expect the Toyota Highlander Grant to provide more leg room for passengers in the middle row as well as the third row, and we also expect the new version to deliver more passenger volume overall.

 More cargo space as well

The new Toyota Highlander Grand should provide more cargo capacity than the current Highlander. Currently, the Highlander offers 453 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats while the cargo area behind the second row provides over 1,300 litres of cargo space. The 2023 Toyota Highlander is already one of the most spacious models in its class, but we expect the Highlander Grand to provide even more cargo capacity and versatility.

A hybrid powertrain

The Toyota Highlander Grand will likely share many components with the current Highlander. We don't expect to see many differences in terms of the interior design or the available trims, and we expect to see the same powertrain options as well. That means that the Highlander Grand should get the new 2.4 L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 275 horsepower and over 300 lb-ft of torque. This new engine replaced the previous V6 and delivers the same power with better efficiency. It also delivers the same towing capacity of 5,000 lb.

All of this should be offered in the Highlander Grand as well as the popular hybrid powertrain which offers 243 horsepower and an average fuel consumption rating of under 8 L per 100 km in the traditional Highlander. We don't expect the new model to be any different with its hybrid engine offering plenty of power and impressive efficiency.
